Better Way of Miami, Inc 

Better Way of Miami, Inc., a non-profit community based organization, is committed to providing shelter, residential care, treatment, housing, and services on a continuum, to indigent, homeless, addicted, and dually diagnosed persons, their families and supporters, in order to maximize their chances for a productive, healthy, and fulfilling life in Recovery.

 

Bridging Families and Communities

Bridging Families & Communities is a community based inter-agency team providing intensive home based services for children of high conflict and domestic violence families. Fiscally managed by The Advocate Program, Inc, it is a System of Care focusing on family strengths and needs, in a cultural competent and easily accessible manner. The BFC Collaborative is a community partnership comprised of over 40 agencies in Miami-Dade. This collaborative is works together to identify unmet needs, barriers, and gaps in services. Capacity building trainings and community awareness on domestic violence/family conflict are also offered through the BFC Collaborative.

Community Works Coalition (CWC) combats the lack of financial literacy through education with respect to cultural values and heritage. Cultivate Humanity by Assisting Needs through Guidance and Education.

 

EnFAMILIA, Inc.

enFAMILIA, Inc. was incorporated in September of 2000 to provide educational programs to help improve and preserve family life for a large population of migrant farm workers and low-income families living in Deep South Miami-Dade County. This area includes Homestead, Florida City, Leisure City and Naranja. The community in Deep South Dade is characterized by factors such as poverty, low education, discrimination, cultural prejudices and immigration issues, all of which have contributed to some of the social problems enFamilia addresses. In addition, teen pregnancy and lack of teen parenting skills are, unfortunately, common in this community.

 

Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR)

MDCR’s Reentry Unit assists offenders with their transition from jail to community by providing services and referrals based on assessed need. Through the coordination of in jail services and programs with community resources, an effective, individualized transition plan is developed linking the ex-offender to a community based support system.

 

Project L.E.A.D. (Literacy for Every Adult in Dade)

The mission of Project L.E.A.D., an outreach service of the Miami-Dade Public Library System, is to reduce functional illiteracy among English-speaking adults in Miami-Dade County. Since 1985, the program has offered free, confidential, one-to-one tutoring in basic literacy to thousands of adults aged 18 and over who have requested assistance.

 

South Florida Behavioral Health Network

South Florida Behavioral Health Network is committed to improving the lives of people with mental disorders and addiction problems. Our goal is to develop, implement and refine a coordinated system of behavioral health care within the community that enhances prevention, treatment and recovery services for those at risk of or who are suffering from mental health and substance abuse problems.

 

Transition, Inc.

Transition, Inc. is a specialized service center providing a comprehensive array of job training and job placement services to adult Ex-Offenders in Miami-Dade County. Operating as the Offender Service Center for South Florida Workforce, services are delivered to individuals who have an arrest record by assisting them in their re-entry efforts to overcome the barrier to employment as a result of a criminal record. Now in its thirty-ninth year of successful services, Transition, Inc. maintains a database of over 3,800 employers who are willing to give Ex-Offenders a second chance to earn a living wage.
